It will be short summery, so if you want to know more specifically, write comments ~
Korea was first formed in 2333 B.C. The country of that time was called Gojoseon. Later, it was divided into countries, such as Buyeo, Goguryeo, Dongye, Okjeon, Mahan, and Mulgan, and then it developed into three kingdoms called Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. In particular, Silla unified the three kingdoms, and led to the Unified Silla Periods when a country called Balhae was built. Hugoguryeo and the Hubaekje all came into existence. It was not until the end of Goryeo Dynasty that Joseon Dynasty was founded, and Joseon lasted from 1392 to 1910. The Joseon Dynasty were colonized by force of the Japanese army, and the Japanese occupation lasted from 1910 until 1945, when Japan lost World War II. After a painful history of the Japanese occupation, Korea was divided into South and North Korea due to Russia's conflict with the United States. At last, the Korean government was established in South Korea in 1948. However, after the Korean War in 1950, the Korean Peninsula was completely divided into and maintained by, two separate nations until now.
The possibility of reconciliation between the two countries is increasing as North Korea has recently shown itself as being a land of peace. It is hoped that the unification of South Korea and North Korea will be realized as well as improvement of relations between North Korea and the U.S.
